The Facility

Our open and inviting main facility on the West-side of Santa Cruz is a purpose-built Analog and Digital photo workshop and art gallery. Anyone can visit and have a great time, just drop in and say hello. The gallery is always open and fun. The maker space was designed and equipped to enable casual through seasoned photographers to make personal high quality works of art.


What can I do?

No experience is necessary to make a beautiful and unique photographic print, enjoy the current gallery show, make digital scans of prints and negatives, or simply use the digital stations for writing your next short story. For those who want go deeper into learning new photographic techniques, we offer workshops for all levels and interests. Or, come use the darkroom, just like you remember it. Digital and Analog lab rentals

Easy and fun workshops where everyone can create a high quality work of original and personal art in just a few hours - all you need is photo from your phone

Intensive workshops where you can take a deep-dive into new techniques or refine your image-making skills and knowledge

Visit our gallery, where we feature a wide variety of work made at the facility by local and visiting artists

Kitted & Fitted

  • Our Analog Lab is a 130 sq. ft. purpose-built darkroom that has some great equipment:
  • 3 Beseler 45MX enlargers with 50mm, 75mm, 90mm, and 150mm lenses, capable of negatives up to 4”x5”.
  • 2 UV light sources that will expose images up to 16”x20”.
  • 2 wet areas for managing a large array of tray sizes and combinations for wet processing.
  • All the necessary tools - enlarger easels, contact print frames, grain focuser, light boxes, etc.
  • A wide variety of papers and emulsions
  • With the addition of our automated Filmomat film processor for 110, 35mm, 120/220, and 4x5 B&W negatives we are able to create workflows within a fully analog environment or move to digital for post processing and back to analog techniques in support of diverse print processes.

Dark & Lightroom Areas, Digital Stations, Finishing Area and Gallery

Our space on the West-side of Santa Cruz is a purpose-built Analog and Digital photo workshop and art gallery, enabling anyone the ability to the create and present hand made photographic works of art.


Digital workflow is fully enabled by state of the art Apple computer hardware and Adobe software for image development, a pair of large format printers to create archival color prints or full size negatives for contact printing, and a high resolution transparency scanner to convert analog negatives into large format contact print sized material.

The traditional wet darkroom is equipped with large format enlargers and UV light sources for traditional chemistries. The low-light wet area outside the darkroom is designed to enable end to end traditional print making, layup to processing.

With the addition of our automated Filmomat film processor for 110, 35mm, 120/220, and 4x5 B&W negatives we are able to create workflows within a fully analog environment or move to digital for post processing and back to analog techniques in support of diverse print processes.


Our finishing and gallery area culminates in the ability to finish and show a body of work in a dedicated public viewing forum.
